Biostimulants for soilless culture
A plant biostimulant is a EU fertilizing product the function of which is to stimulate plant nutrition processes independently of the product’s nutrient content with the sole aim of improving one or more of the following characteristics of the plant and the plant rhizosphere:
1) nutrient use efficiency;
2) tolerance to abiotic stress;
3) crop quality traits;
4) availability of confined nutrients in the soil or rhizosphere.
There are many substances and microorganisms having biostimulant activity that can be used in soilless culture to improve the agronomic crop response. Several case studies on biositmulant application in soiless culture will be presented and discussed.
