Industrial symbiosis for greener horticulture practices
Carbon dioxide (CO2) enrichment under controlled environmental conditions has been shown to improve the growth and production of a wide variety of crops. Greenhouse horticulture can represent a useful opportunity among the carbon capture and utilization methods for CO2 emissions generated by nearby production plants connected by pipeline networks. The symbiosis between industrial plants and greenhouses can allow to reduce the overall quantities of CO2 released into the atmosphere, and to recover the waste heat of the same plants to ensure the most favorable temperatures for crop growth. The purpose of the intervention is to investigate this opportunity.
