Francesco Serio is first researcher at the Institute of Food Production Sciences of the National Research Council.
His main research interests include:
i) soil and soilless cultivation systems of horticultural crops with particular reference to the impact on quality aspects;
ii) low environmental impact cultivation techniques;
iii) biofortification and nutritional aspects of horticultural crops;
iv) biodiversity of horticultural crops.
Most of the research activities are conducted at the Experimental Farm La Noria of CNR-ISPA, of which the undersigned is responsible. Author of more than 150 scientific publications on national and international journals.

The SOILLESS-GO project: product and process innovations to improve the quality and sustainability of soilless crops
The SOILLESS.GO project “Environmental sustainability, process and product innovations for the competitiveness of soilless crops in Puglia – Operational Group” is funded under the Rural Development Programme of the Apulia Region (Italy) 2014–2020. It responds to the request for process and product innovation, expressed by the soilless cultivation sector to improve the efficiency of the use of resources, evaluate the economic benefits deriving from the adoption of innovations and consolidate the position of products on the market. In SOILLESS.GO the world of research works in synergy with farms and with the digital technology sector, developing shared approaches for sustainable production processes.
