Biography:
Professore ordinario di Agronomia presso l’Università di Torino. Ha partecipato anche con funzioni di Coordinatore a progetti nazionali e internazionali sull’agrotecnica, sulla qualità tecnologica e sanitaria dei cereali. Dal 2007 ad oggi è responsabile di Unità operativa di progetti MIPAAF. Dal 2019 a oggi è relatore del Tavolo tecnico del settore maidicolo dello stesso Ministero. Dal 2020 è stato più volte convocato dalla Commissione agricoltura di Camera e Senato per l’espressione di pareri tecnico-scientifici. Le attività di ricerca sono attestate da oltre 280 pubblicazioni.

From Dry Farming to Regenerative Agriculture

Abstract
The ongoing climate change is characterized by an increase in temperatures and demand for water from cropping systems. In this context, it is necessary to implement adaptations that concern both the genetics of the species in cultivation (substitution of crops or varieties) and the agricultural practices to reduce water demand or the need for high water supplies. In the medium-long term, more structural mitigation interventions are necessary by more thoroughly reviewing the cultivation and irrigation systems.
Dry farming is of great value, although it must now be included in the broader approach of regenerative agriculture with attention extended to the soil resource as a whole.
