Food Vertigo. Processes and devices for metropolitan food resilience
Abstract
By 2050, more than 80 percent of the world’s population will live in metropolitan conurbations. Urban resilience strategies from a holistic and circular economy perspective, including universal food access and food security, will be essential. An infrastructure strategy is proposed that improves human-environment interaction through the development of agricultural production at a midscale in densely inhabited areas. Not just urban vertical farms but public landmarks that respond to the technological complexity of the agro-industrial supply chain and are adaptable in different metropolitan contexts thus defining an inclusive and sustainable urban landscape.
