The project was born after a first succesfull experiment in 2019, during AquaFarm, the exhibition dedicated to the sector of aquaculture, shellfish farming and sustainable fishing hosted by Pordenone Fiere, when a section was dedicated to the exhibitiors of vertical farming, aquaponics and hydroponics sectors. The wide interest of the public, in addition to the need of having an italian exhibition representative for these sectors which represent the innovation and the future of agritech, gave birht to NovelFarm. An event within the event, which takes place in the two days of AquaFarm but has found its strong identity and vitality.
NovelFarm has become the most important event in the sector in Italy and every year brings together the most important Italian and international companies committed to promoting soilless agriculture. The goal of Pordenone Fiere was to create an opportunity for meeting and debate on an area that represents a sustainable solution for the food challenges of the future.
Soilless cultivations – among which the main ones are vertical, indoor, hydroponic and aquaponic agriculture – allow a very high production yield (short time, in a few square meters) avoiding the waste of resources (compared to traditional methods they allow in fact approx. 90% of water saving) and preserving natural habitats and biodiversity. In fact, they can exist regardless of the availability of arable land and become a solution to guarantee the production of food even in the city (urban farming).
Do more. Better. With less. Soilless agriculture acts in compliance with the 17 objectives listed by the UN in the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

In 2021, with the birth of AlgaeFarm, the AquaFarm and NovelFarm project is enriched by a further and increasingly important sector: the one of algoculture and therefore the cultivation, processing and use of algae and microalgae.
NovelFarm was born as a moment of meeting and comparison for the operators of these important sectors but not only. Each year it also hosts the most prominent figures in the field of research and innovation who become the protagonists of the conferences and debates scheduled throughout the two days of the event.
Due to the pandemic of Covid-19 it has not been possible to bring to life 2021 edition phisically. We have though organised a day full of meeting and conferences online, with the aim to lay the foundations for a re-start of the sector of aquaculture and sustainable fishing after a much painful forced stop.
After the difficulties caused by the health emergency, we would like to look at a restart of the agri-food world characterized by a greater attention to environmental sustainability and to the consumption of healthy products.The 2022 edition of NovelFarm looks precisely in this direction by offering its contribution to the development of a sector born from the need to optimize production processes and minimize environmental impact through the use of technology and the most advanced innovations in the agronomic field.

Pordenone Exhibition Center is a space composed of 9 hall, 30k sqm internal exhibition area and 70k sqm external exhibition area. Every year we host approximately 30 fairs.
